Program or resource provides experience to participants.

Our mission is to promote small farm development by providing information and training for aspiring, beginning and transitioning farmers. We maintain an extensive resource collection; produce publications; develop and offer innovative, farmer-guided programs; and advocate for policies that encourage sustainable small-scale agriculture.

Sponsoring Organization:


This program focuses on new and/or small farmers interested in agriculture, the environment, and production. Farmers continue to search for ways to diversify and add value to their products.

"In partnership with the National Immigrant Farming Initiative, the Accokeek Foundation is extending its history of community education and farmer training to include underserved, socially disadvantaged, and limited resource communities through our Immigrant Farmer Incubator Program.

"Chesapeake CRAFT is organized by farmers interested in improving practical new farmer training and networking in the region, particularly in sustainable agriculture.

CCOF is comprised of two organizations: the CCOF Trade Association and the CCOF foundation. CCOF sponsors workshops, field days, and conferences. Six month, non-farm internship program includes organic Certification 101 training and projects in research, event coordination, policy or grant writing.

An educational outreach organization helping farmers transition to organic production. Projects include: the Organic Farming Conference and the Organic University, held annually in La Crosse, WI; The Farmer-to-Farmer Mentoring Program; The Organic Broadcaster, a bi-monthly newspaper; and The Upper Midwest Organic Resource Directory.

Sponsoring Organization:

Virgin Islands Sustainable Farm Institute (VISFI) eight-week farming internships offer practical experience in organic gardening, construction, or sustainable systems.

Two-month residential training program. "Develop a practical skill set for creating productive agricultural and community systems while protecting the health of downstream ecosystems. ...learn tested, profitable whole systems organic farming strategies that benefit connected communities of people, plants, animals, and water life.

The Experimental Farm is a 333-acre, certified organic farm. On-farm research. Research publications and educational activities linking healthy people to healthy soil. Sponsors field days, conferences, seminars, workshops, and farm tours. Internships available.
